Aim 900, aged ≥ 18 years, with heart failure NYHA class III or IV, left ventricular ejection fraction < 40% and ≥ 2 hospitalisations for chronic decompensated heart failure within the preceding 12 months (at least one within the preceding 5–60 days) |

Treatment regimen |
Nesiritide, 2 μg/kg iv bolus, then 0.01 μg/kg/min for 4–6 h, once or twice weekly, or placebo |
