To determine the incidence of contrast-induced nephropathy after coronary angiography, efficacy and safety of valsartan alone or in combination with an ACE inhibitor and the incidence of renal artery stenosis in patients undergoing non-emergent cardiac catheterisation with chronic renal failure |

Aim 500 patients, aged 40ā80 years, with glomerular filtration rate 30ā89 ml/min, undergoing non-emergent cardiac catheterisation

Valsartan, 10 mg/day, titrated to 40 mg/day, plus an ACE inhibitor at the discretion of the physician
