Patients |
Aim 824 patients, aged 60–74 or ≥ 75 years, with symptomatic congestive heart failure, hospitalised within the past year and with elevated N-terminal brain natriuretic peptide |

Treatment regimen |
Standard medical treatment, to reduce symptoms to NYHA class ≤ II, or intensified treatment, to additionally reduce N-terminal brain natriuretic peptide levels to below twice the upper limit of normal |
