Purpose |
To compare the effects of losartan with those of amlodipine on left ventricular diastolic function in hypertensive patients with left ventricular diastolic dysfunction without systolic dysfunction |
 |
Study design |
Randomised, open, blinded endpoint, parallel-group |
 |
Follow-up |
Aim 18 months |
 |
Patients |
Aim 300 patients, aged ≥ 20 years, with SBP 140–200 mm Hg, DBP 90–110 mm Hg, left ventricular hypertrophy and left ventricular ejection fraction ≥ 50% |
 |
Treatment regimen |
Losartan, 50 mg/day, titrated to 100 mg/day after 4 weeks, or amlodipine, 2.5 mg/day, titrated to 5 mg/day, to target blood pressure < 140/90 mm Hg |
