Patients
Aim 450 patients, aged 30–74 years, with type 2 diabetes, urinary albumin to creatinine ratio of 100–300 mg/g and serum creatinine < 1.5 mg/dl for men and < 1.3 mg/dl for women
Treatment regimen
Telmisartan, 20 mg/day, titrated to 40 or 80 mg/day, or placebo
