Patients
Aim 1044 patients with AMI, eligible for thrombolysis or primary percutaneous coronary intervention and without signs of heart failure
Treatment regimen
GIK infusion (glucose 20 %, short-acting insulin ≥ 5 U/h, KCl 40 mmol), 2 ml/kg/h for 12 h, or no GIK infusion
Concomitant therapy
Thrombolysis or primary percutaneous coronary intervention at the discretion of the physician
