Patients |
29,686 patients (52.6% women), mean ages 71.1 ± 14.5 years in women and 67 ± 14.4 years in men, with congestive heart failure

Results |
Men predominated in all incident age groups (p < 0.0000001). An annual increase in prevalence of 1.0/1000 in women and 0.9/1000 in men was observed (p < 0.0001 for both trends). African Americans comprised 44.6% of the study sample, and had greater rates of new heart failure cases than other race groups (p < 0.0000001). The methodology used appeared feasible, automated and replicable in other health systems. Final results not yet available
