The 2008 annual meeting of the American Society of Hypertension took place during 14–17 May in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Society’s president Professor Suzanne Oparil said that the aim of the meeting was to shift the focus toward hypertensive patients and the primary care physicians who are their first-line healthcare providers.
